Let us eat cake - all in the name of fundraising for Breakthrough Breast Cancer!

Just to whet your appetite, and as a reminder to those who were there, here's a selection of photos featuring (almost!) all of the cakes! More pics to come soon from other photographers there on the day, including lots of pics of people tucking in and having a great time raising dough for Breakthrough Breast Cancer!

In total, we raised about £1500- we are so happy that the event was a success and if we do it all again next year, we'll make it even bigger!

Thanks again to all the extraordinarily generous folk who donated time, bakes, gifts and goodwill to our event. We are chuffed to bits that everyone had such a great afternoon!

It's finally here! Afternoon Tea day!

Well, after a few frantic and excitable weeks of planning, here we are on our Great Pink Bake Off Pop Up Afternoon Tea day.

Again, (and we really cannot stress this enough) the support from Edinburgh , and indeed some of Scotland's finest has been incredible.

Guests this afternoon will be tucking into a sensational selection of bakes, delicacies and bites, all in the name of raising vital funds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

We also have an incroooodible list of raffle prizes and auction items, so we're really looking forward to the excitement of that later - hey, anything to keep us from falling into post-cake snooze.

We were delighted to announce that the event sold out in the past few days so thanks to all who bought tickets to come along - can't wait to let you see what we have managed to assemble in the name of cake!

Will update with photos soon .

All the best,

Leila & Lea

We're in the paper!

Thanks to a bit or PR help from Linsay at Black Harrow, there's a fantastic piece in today's evening news about the rise and rise of baking and our Afternoon Tea Event. Yay!

Link to online article is here and some blurb from it here....

The upsurge in people dabbling with home baking goes hand-in-hand with the ever-increasing popularity of bake sales and decadent afternoon teas.
And Lea, pictured below with Matthew Halsall of the Manna House bakery, is cashing in on the phenomenon – all in the name of charity. Along with Leila Kean, events manager for Innis & Gunn, and part-time food writer and blogger, she has organised an afternoon tea with a difference to raise funds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
The Edinburgh contribution to the nation-wide Great Pink Bake Off will take place on October 20, at The Royal Scots Club, on Abercromby Place. The pair have enlisted the help of some of Edinburgh’s top chefs and bakers to form an impressive line-up for the cake-tastic event.
The likes of Mark Greenaway, Neil Forbes from Cafe St Honore and Craig Sandle of The Pompadour by Galvin will join forces with top bakeries including The Manna House, to provide hundreds of tasty treats for hungry guests.
“We have some pink fizz for guests on arrival and it will just be a nice relaxing afternoon with a huge collection of cakes on offer,” Leila says. “It’s such a social thing to do, that’s what’s so lovely about it. We have been bowled over by the generosity of people. It’s always nice to be able to have some fun like this, even if there is a serious message behind the afternoon. There will be a lot to eat so we really want to sell a lot of tickets!”
Model and actress Eunice Olumide, one of Breakthrough Scotland’s ambassadors, will be hosting the Great Pink Bake Off event on October 20 and will compere the raffle and auction. Tickets cost £15 and must be pre-booked www.gpboedinburghpopup.eventbrite.co.uk.

Our wonderful supporters so far...

It's taken a few days to find the time to update the Supporters page on the blog, as rather brilliantly, the list keeps getting longer.

We cannot thank our supporters enough! The list of names reads like a veritable 'who's who', so thanks to all who have agreed to help us, whether by donating edible treats for the event, ideas, time, or raffle prizes. It's going to be a great afternoon, thanks to you!

The tab can be found at the top of the blog, or you can go to the link here.

Thanks again,
